The CDN node concept

What is a "CDN node"?

It's the dedicated server that delivers your S3 access. Your endpoint URL points at this node, and your chosen bandwidth tier is reserved on it. We call it a Dedicated CDN Node because it's allocated to your account rather than shared.

Is the CDN node the same as a VPS I have to manage?

No. Although it's your own dedicated machine, ZenDRIVE S3 Access is fully managed — you never log into an operating system or maintain software. You only ever use the S3 endpoint. Think of the node as the engine behind your endpoint, not a box you operate.

Why does a dedicated node matter?

Shared endpoint Dedicated CDN node
Throughput shared with others Bandwidth tier reserved for you
Address can change Stable, dedicated endpoint
Noisy-neighbor variability Predictable performance

Can I choose where my node is located?

Yes — you pick a datacenter region when ordering. See IP & DNS for the available locations and how addressing works.

Does each service get its own node?

Each ZenDRIVE S3 Access service is backed by its own dedicated node with its own endpoint and credentials. If you need capacity in multiple regions, you can order multiple services.

What about the term "VPS"?

You may occasionally see "VPS" in older materials. The current term is CDN node (or Dedicated CDN Node) — same underlying dedicated server, clearer name.

Can my node be resized later?

Bandwidth tiers can change as your needs grow. See Upgrading or changing plan for how that works today.
